Fredag 18. februar er det president- og parlamentsvalg i Uganda. Flere ved ambassaden vil bruke deler av dagen på å observere valgprosessen i Kampala, og sikkerhetsrutiner er oppfrisket med tanke på eventuelle uroligheter. Foreløpig er det stille med mye synlig politi. President Museveni har vært president siden 1986. Hans sterkeste utfordrer er Dr. Besigye (hans tidligere kampfelle og lege) som tapte for Museveni i 2001 og 2006. Besigye får kun 12 – 20% oppslutning i meningsmålinger mot over 60% til Museveni. On Friday October 1 representatives from the Norwegian Embassy in Kampala, including the Ambassador, were present at the closing session of a week long workshop organised by Save the Children in Seeta, just outside of Kampala. On Thursday 14 October around 25 human rights defenders (HRD) organisations/individuals met with representatives from the EU Delegation, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherland and The Royal Norwegian Embassy to come with input to the work on adapting the EU Guidelines on human rights defenders to the Ugandan context. The work will result in the Local Implementation Strategy that will be launched and made public in due course

Norwegian Business Centre opened its doors in May this year. This is the result of an initiative from The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) to set up an office for Norwegian start-up enterprises in Uganda. Norad and NHO have covered the initial cost, but the companies will be covering the operational cost from 2011. The initiative is closely linked to NHOs private sector program that has promoted business opportunities in Uganda to Norwegian companies since 2003. At the moment, 5 companies have moved in. On July 22nd 2010, the Norwegian Embassy in Kampala was invited to the Launch of a maize milling machine in Amuru District, Northern Uganda, belonging to the Amuru Ribbe Ber Integrated Farmers Association. The launch was marked by dancing, singing and quite a few speeches as is the case in many parts of Uganda when marking a significant event in a community.
